Junior Livestock Auction Today

Tres Pinos, CA – Livestock is the heart and soul of the San Benito County Fair.

Today is the Junior Livestock Auction. It’s the culmination of all the hard work and compassion of local 4-H and FFA students who have raised their pigs, steer, goats, sheep, rabbits, and poultry with the utmost care.

290 animals are up for auction.

The Heritage Hog will be auctioned off as the finale of the event.

This year, the prize pig was raised by Madison Kashiwagi. Madison is a member of Cienega 4-H and a junior at Hollister High School. For raising the Heritage Hog, named Diesel, she receives a $1,000 scholarship. Madison says she’ll put the money toward college. She hopes to attend Cal Poly.

Also at the Fair today: the Antique and Classic Car Show, a Hot Chili Pepper Eating Contest and Red Voodoo on the Main Stage.

Gates opened at 10am. Carnival opens at noon.
